VOLUNTEER/MISSION TRIP OPPORTUNITIES WITH APPALACHIA SERVICE PROJECT

COVID-19: The health and safety of ASP volunteers, families and staff is our number one priority. We have established COVID-19 guidelines that reviewed regularly and updated as needed to reflect the most recent CDC and health officials’ recommendations.

Trip Options: ASP offers 2-day to week-long, immersive mission trips for groups throughout the year. Our programs focus on providing critical home repair assistance to low-income families in Central Appalachia. Volunteers from all over the country join ASP to serve alongside families to help make homes warmer, safer, and drier.

Participant Cost: Our mission fees are $70/volunteer/day of service and include everything from food and lodging to construction materials and faith-based programming in the evenings.

Age Requirements: For ASP’s traditional volunteer trips, all participants must be 13+ and have completed the 8th grade. In the summer, we have additional opportunities available for junior high and middle school aged volunteers (at least age 11+ and completed 6th-9th grade) and groups including both junior and senior high students. Let me know if you would like more information about those trips.

Group Size Requirements: Groups are divided into work crews of 5-7 people including at least 2 adults 19+ per crew. The minimum group size is 5 people. There is no maximum size for groups (our largest group brings 300 people). If you are an individual or small group (less than 5 people), we can help you get in touch with an existing group to join.

Registration: Check out our online registration which shows you all available upcoming dates. When you’re ready to submit a Summer registration, you will indicate your 1st and 2nd preferences for service week and for location (by state or drive time). We make assignments on a rolling, first come, first served basis, so we recommend registering as early as possible!

ASP Discovery Webinars: If you’d like to learn more about ASP, have a chance to interact with us virtually, and participate in a question and answer opportunity, I encourage you to attend one of our upcoming ASP Discovery Webinars. These webinars are a great opportunity to catch the spirit of ASP. 🔨Let me know if you would like more information.

ASP@Home: Not ready to commit to a trip and/or looking for an option to do at home? Consider our ASP@Home Program. You can make a difference in your home community AND support ASP!
