About the film
Rising Hope is a documentary on Together for Hope, directed by Theo Avgerinos. It follows the people and communities at the center of 25 years of rural development work across the Delta, the Black Belt, Appalachia, and Tribal Nations, Texas, and the Four Corners.
The film tells the story the way Together for Hope works: by starting with the gifts already present in a community and the local leaders who have been building on them for years. Across 338 counties of persistent rural poverty, more than 150 coalition member organizations are doing that work in education, health and nutrition, housing and environment, and social enterprise.
The screening is part of Together for Hope’s 25th Anniversary Annual Meeting, and it is open to everyone. You do not need to register for the conference to attend.

Free lot: Park free in the large lot just west of NEON Collective Kitchens, which has accessible (ADA) spaces. Enter the lot from West Broadway. Street parking: More parking is available on West Broadway and on 23rd Avenue North behind the theater. Please check posted signs for local restrictions. |
Annual Meeting attendees: The screening runs at the same time as the afternoon workshops, so choose the film or the workshops for that block. The film is free for annual meeting attendees. The screening ends around 3:00 p.m., leaving plenty of time before the Gala reception at 5:45 p.m.
Make a day of it
That evening, Together for Hope celebrates 25 years at the 25th Anniversary Gala at the Westin Jackson, with a 5:45 p.m. reception, dinner at 6:30 hosted by Rita Brent, and a dance party until 10:00. Gala tickets are $100.
On Friday at 11:30 a.m., the public is also welcome at the closing keynote panel, Philanthropy in Rural Places, at Fondren Church. See all public events.
