First Baptist Church Frankfort becomes a “Friend of Together for Hope Appalachia”

On Sunday, August 22, Keith Stillwell, Together for Hope Regional Vice President for Appalachia, presented First Baptist Church, Frankfort, Kentucky, with a candle holder, candle, and a children’s book to commemorate the church’s long standing partnership with Together for Hope. The candle holder was made by Appalachian artist, Kirk Banks, from the Appalachian Artisan Center in Hindman, Kentucky. The children’s book, A is for Appalachia, was presented to the church’s children’s ministry. Michelle Carrol, associate pastor of missions at First Baptist Frankfort, also participated in the presentation.

First Baptist Church, Frankfort, has been a leader, engaged with Together for Hope in poverty alleviation in Owsley County, one of Together for Hope’s original 20 poorest counties. The Emma Quire Mission Center (https://www.emmaquiremc.org) in Owsley County, a TFH Appalachia coalition member, was established by the church in 2003.

Together for Hope appreciates First Baptist Church’s commitment to poverty alleviation and their continued partnership with Together for Hope Appalachia in this endeavor.
